Mohamed Shauq

Board Member Profile: Mohamed Shauq, Independent Director

Mohamed is married to Mumtaz with two sons and one daughter. His hobbies include rambling, travelling, photography and Scottish dancing.

He graduated with a B.Sc (Electrical Engineering) degree in 1967 and joined the International Research and Development Engineering at Newcastle-Upon-Tyne in the same year working on Super Conductivity Projects. He quickly moved to Westinghouse London to work on Automation Projects. Mohamed moved back to Teesside to assist his wife in the running of Newsagency and General Retail Trade Business. Here he also established his independent Electronic Development Consultancy.

He was appointed as a Justice of the Peace (Magistrate) to the Teesside Petty Sessional Area in 1984. Since then he has regularly taken the chair in both Criminal and Family Proceedings Courts. He was a school governor from 1980 - 1988. As he has lived in this area for over many years he has extensive knowledge of the North East and its people. He views Housing and Transport as most challenging problems. These can be solved.

Mohamed also sits on the Company's Audit Committee and Technical Services Committee.
