Steve Nelson

Steve Nelson

Board Member Profile: Steve Nelson, Vice Chair of the Board

Steve is married to Kathryn and has three children; David 20, Heather 18 and Anthony 14. He still lives in Norton where he was born and raised. Steve was educated at Frederick Nattrass school (where he is now a governor), Stockton Grammar, Stockton 6th Form College and Leicester Polytechnic and the University of Teesside where he obtained 2 degrees, first in English/Politics and then in Law.

After working as manager of the then Stockton Unemployed Workers' Centre Steve now works at Middlesbrough Council where he manages the Welfare Rights Unit and the Financial Assessment Team. He joined the Board when it was founded.

A Councillor for Norton since 1995, Steve is now Cabinet Member for the Environment after previously being Cabinet Member for Housing & Community Safety where he is happy to have played some part in the successful ALMO application.

What little spare time he has is devoted to his family and Middlesbrough Football Club but not always necessarily in that order!

Steve is also Chair of the Company's Housing Management Committee and sits on the Nominations and Remuneration Committee
