Board Member Profile: Stan Irwin, Independent Director

Stan is married to Judith, with 2 daughters, Emma 22 and Alex 19. He saw the light and moved from Newcastle to Teesside 20 years ago. He enjoys all sports, plays golf poorly and still plays football and squash despite his wife's encouragement to stop. He also enjoys gardening and reading.

When he began his career he wanted to be an undertaker but realised he did not quite have the personality so became an accountant. He started off working for British Gas mainly on large building and engineering contracts. For the last 25 years before he retired he worked in health, mainly as Director of Finance of different health bodies, the last 13 years was as Director of Finance for North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust. He says he knows very little about housing so hopes everyone will give him time to settle in and also share their expertise with him. He is really looking forward to being part of Tristar and has been hugely impressed by what he has seen so far and hopes he can add some value as a member of the Board.

Stan is the Chair of the Audit Committee and also sits on the Finance & Performance Committee and the Housing Management Committee.
