Mediation
UNITE mediators can help you and your neighbour/s work out an agreement that you are all happy with. Mediators are "go-betweens" trained to help everyone concerned to look at ways of improving the situation.
In the past UNITE has helped disputes about many issues including noise, boundaries, planning decisions, parking, damage to property, dogs, children etc.
The process works in the following stages: The mediators talk to everyone separately at first to hear their view of the situation. Next everyone is brought together in a meeting at a neutral venue. The mediators will ensure that everyone is heard. The meeting usually lasts up to two hours. The mediators do not give advice. They will help the parties to come to an agreement about the future.
Mediation is quick and free. It really does help improve relationships in the community. UNITE is independent and impartial which aims for a win/win for all parties involved.
