Tackling Financial Exclusion Event

On Wednesday 1st October 2008 Stockton's Financial Inclusion Forum arranged a Strategy Development Seminar at the Education Centre.

Over 60 people attended this event, from over 30 different organisations working within the Stockton area. Photographs of the event are available.

Tristar Homes who are an active member of the Financial Inclusion Forum helped organise this event and promoted the services that we provide customers during the event.

The guest speakers for the event include:-

• Eric Thompson - Sheffield City Council (Beacon Council for Promoting Financial Inclusion and Tackling Over Indebtedness)
• Ian Willans - Regional Manager - Financial Services Authority
• Bronwyn Twizell - South Tyneside Council (Beacon Council for Promoting Financial Inclusion and Tackling Over Indebtedness)

The seminar was arranged to obtain officers views in the development of Stockton's overall financial inclusion strategy.

As part of the event, officers were asked to identify the problems which residents faced in relation to financial exclusion, what initiatives are currently in place to help, and what improvements were needed in the future.

It is hoped to follow up this event with consultation with residents within the Borough.
