Selling leasehold properties
What if I want to sell my flat or maisonette?
If you sell your flat within 5 years of the date of the first purchase, you will be liable for repaying a portion of the discount you received when you first purchased the lease. This amount will be dependent upon how much is left to run of the initial 5 year period. The leaseholder is also liable to pay back a portion of the increased value of the property less any improvements, the Leaseholder section will be able to provide you with more details regarding the estimated amount.
Your solicitor and the purchaser's solicitor should apportion Service Charges to the date of sale, and arrange for future payment of Services Charges not yet issued.
Please ensure all outstanding charges are paid before the sale is complete. As per your lease we will require a notice of transfer for the incoming leaseholder.
