Audit Commission Award Tristar 2 Stars !!

INDEPENDENT inspectors have praised Tristar Homes for delivering a good customer-focused housing service with promising prospects for improvement.

Welcoming the report, by Government watchdog the Audit Commission, our Managing Director Steve Boyd said:

"This achievement clearly shows we are delivering a good service and improving all the time. I'm delighted with the news, particularly for our customers. We have made significant progress since our last inspection and the Audit Commission found high levels of customer satisfaction, which clearly demonstrates how our work to make services better is paying off.

"It is a great step forward to be rated 'good' but we want to keep improving and achieve the highest possible standard of excellence. We welcome the inspectors' comments and suggestions. Our partnership with Stockton Council is a successful one and together we'll be tackling an action plan for improvements with the dedication we have already shown in turning the company round."

Reporting on the inspection, which took place in November, the Commission says Tristar is a 'progressive organisation' whose priorities reflect residents' views as well as regional and national agendas. It involves residents closely in making decisions and offers customers support in managing their rent accounts.

The service has improved from its previous 'fair' rating of 2005.

Tristar is already working to develop improvements, ensuring adequate insulation in all its homes, better rent collection performance and a more flexible appointments system for repairs. It is also working with Stockton Council and other housing providers to develop a lettings system across the Tees Valley based on customer choice.

Councillor Keith Leonard, Stockton Council's Cabinet Member for Housing, said: "I am delighted at this progress by Tristar Homes. The Company has made huge strides in the past year or so and has a strong commitment to further improvement, and thousands of Council tenants are feeling the benefit.

"We look forward to continuing our partnership with Tristar to help them achieve 3-star status."
