I have special circumstances - will you take them into account?
Yes, the Council's allocation's policy responds to need, particularly medical and social need. However priority is awarded to reflect need but not choice and we may offer you a home that is not in an area where you have asked to live.
Medical Need
If you consider that you or any members of your household have any serious medical condition, which would be alleviated by rehousing, a form can be obtained from any local Housing Office or from 16 Church Road. The Senior Clinical Medical Officer will consider your application and make a recommendation regarding the need for a more suitable home, which physically meets your requirements. This means that you need a ground floor property, one that has facilities on one level or is adapted.
Social Need
If you or any member of your household have a special social need, which would be alleviated by you moving from your present home, we will consult with other relevant agencies. If after careful consideration a serious social need is confirmed, a recommendation will be made regarding the need for a more suitable home.
