Decoration Allowance

A decoration allowance is an amount of money paid to tenants when they move into a property. It is intended to help with the cost of decoration. The voucher can only be used for purchases from the following product areas in any B&Q store:

  • Interior Paints, Woodcare & Varnishes
  • Non-Powered Decorating Utensils
  • Wallpapers & Pastes
  • Sandpaper, Fillers & Sealants

The voucher may be used as whole or part payment. It cannot be exchanged for cash or used to pay a credit transaction.

The allowance is not compulsory and will only be paid if the property you are moving into requires additional redecoration work. On some occasions we may feel that a property is already decorated to an adequate standard and as a result, would not qualify for any allowance.

To find out how allowances are calculated or for any further information please download our 'Decoration Allowance Guide' leaflet.
