Make A Difference Day - Thornaby

As part of National Customer Services Week, the Thornaby Housing Team along with the help of Community Payback team set about to tackle the community garden areas in Thornaby.

With the help of the Community Payback team, fencing was painted surrounding the planted areas in Hampden Way, Thornaby. This was well received by the elderly residents living in the bungalows. In addition to the two planted areas being tidied up, the Thornaby team also arranged for the residents living in the OAP bungalows to receive hanging baskets.

With the help of CJM the brick planters were removed and afterwards they even concreted and made good the area. This was all provided at no cost and took CJM the full day to remove and the following day to make good.

Thank you to CJM for their work in making a difference on this event. Officers from across the Company, including the Estate Caretakers helped out along with some young people who lived on the estate.

Residents living on the estate advised that they were really pleased with the works that were undertaken and very impressed.

In addition, the team removed graffiti, removed rubbish and also planted bulbs.

In Whitley road a planted area was tidied up, bark removed, soil dug over and grass planted, shrubs and bulbs planted and bushes cut back.
